Welcoming the Spring session: Our Artists at Lincoln Elementary School!

It’s been a wonderful week of Spring Break, but school is back in, and so is the spring session of Slowfire at Lincoln Elementary School! On the first day of the spring session, our artists used oil pastels to make cereal bowls with their positive messages inside.

The artists were able to practice a slow pace at drawing and then blending and shading using the blendable textures of the oil pastels. We saw some fantastic messages such as “I love you,” “you are strong,” and “I love my family!” Check out our unique pieces below!

Credit for this lesson plan goes to Joss, our Lead painting and drawing teaching artist at Slowfire! Her project inspires artists to feel confident and experiment with creative expression. The oil pastels also allowed the artists to try a new "sensory" art material by rubbing and blending the oil pastel powder with their fingers!
