FOR LINCOLN ELEMENTARY (RIVER FOREST) STUDENTS ONLY REGISTRATION OPENS December 14th @5pm Join Slowfire teachers Emily and Metzli for a fun art class inspired by the popular “Is It Cake?” challenge! In this mixed media edition, students will design and create artwork that blurs the line between sweet and surreal, making everyday objects look good enough to eat. Using a playful mix of materials like paint, paper, cardboard, clay, fabric, and collage, students will explore color, texture, and illusion as they craft their own realistic (and not-so-real!) cakes, pastries, and sculptural treats. Each project encourages experimentation and creativity while teaching foundational art skills such as layering, 3D construction, and visual design. Artists will learn how to make art that looks delicious but isn’t edible! 🎨 All materials and kiln firings are included in the class cost—just bring your imagination! Mondays Grades K-4 9 Weeks 1/12, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23 NO CLASS 1/19, 2/16 3:15pm-5:00pm $352 - $38/class + $10 Fundraiser With a small student to teacher ratio, comprised of dedicated teachers and professors, the student class size is perfect to advance skillsets, while also creating a safe learning environment. While we teach excellent technique and form, we also aim to empower students in their authentic voice/artistry. Our teaching styles are inclusive and welcoming. We are an LGBTQ+ friendly space. No refunds once the course has begun and no make-ups available for group classes. Cancellations 14 days or less prior to the start of the class will not be refunded. *A $20 late fee will be charged if a student is picked up more than 15min late.
