Art Explorers: Chicago Museum Week

Service Description

Teachers Fernanda and Maisie will lead campers on daily field trips to some of Chicago’s most inspiring art and science destinations. Each day, we’ll set out on an adventure through the city—exploring museums, public art, and architectural landmarks that bring creativity to life. Our itinerary may include visits to: 🎨 The Art Institute of Chicago — exploring masterpieces and modern art in one of the world’s premier museums. 🌳 Millennium Park — sketching and photographing public sculptures like Cloud Gate (“The Bean”) and Crown Fountain. 🔬 Museum of Science and Industry — hands-on discovery of art, design, and invention in one of Chicago’s most dynamic museums. 🪶 National Museum of Mexican Art (Pilsen) — celebrating cultural heritage, color, and storytelling through powerful visual art. 💎 Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art — discovering intricate gemstone carvings and the artistry of nature in Elmhurst. Campers will travel either by CTA or in our trusty Slowfire van, Vincent Van-Go! Please ensure your camper is mature enough to ride public transit and follow directions in busy museum settings. Each day will include a lunch stop at a new local spot, so please send money for lunch. Campers may also bring a small sketchbook for journaling or drawing inspiration from what they see throughout the week. It’s a week of creativity, curiosity, and adventure — perfect for the art-loving explorer! Teacher-to-Camper Ratio: 1:4 Location: 907 S Lombard Ave Drop-off: 9am (please do not arrive earlier) Pick-up: 4 PM Campers will expand their skills through exposure to multiple art mediums and new experiences, with projects designed to build on their abilities each week. Every day is packed with creativity and fun! Cancellation & Refunds: More than 18 days before start date: refund minus $100 administrative deposit. 18 days or fewer before the start date: no refund. Late Pick-Up Fee: A $20 late fee will be charged if a student is picked up more than 15 minutes after scheduled pick-up, and $1 per minute thereafter.
