Service Description

Join Slowfire teacher Ms. Belen for a fun and engaging art class where students will learn the fundamentals of ceramics. Clay Kitchen Step into the clay kitchen and create functional, handmade ceramics inspired by everyday cooking and gathering! In this hands-on class, students will design and build their own kitchen pieces such as coil-built mugs, pinch-pot berry bowls, slab spoon rests, garlic graters, herb bowls, and handbuilt spoons—each one both beautiful and useful. Students will explore a range of foundational handbuilding techniques, including: 🥣 Pinch Pots (bowls, berry baskets, herb dishes) ☕ Coil Building (mugs and cups) 🥄 Slab Construction (spoon rests, garlic grinders) 🌿 Texture & Functional Design Along the way, students will learn how form meets function, thinking about balance, grip, size, and surface while developing strong clay skills. No previous experience is required—beginners will build confidence with core techniques, while returning students can refine their craftsmanship and explore more complex forms. Come cook up something creative—one handmade kitchen piece at a time! Grades K-5 Taught by Belen Tuesday 3:15-4:30pm For an additional fee of $9/day, your child can stay until 5:30 with flex pick up until 5:40. Please request this on your intake form.
