Service Description

In this class, students will learn the foundational techniques of ceramic handbuilding with Slowfire teacher Ms. Priscilla. Using pinching, coiling, and slab-building, they’ll create both functional and sculptural pieces inspired by classic candies and confectionery experiments. Popular projects may include gummy-bear pinch pots, peppermint-swirl plates, licorice-coil bowls, chocolate-bar slab boxes, lollipop spoon rests, and candy-jar canisters—each project building real clay skills like texture, carving, clean attachments, and form design. After building, students will add color with underglazes to achieve vibrant candy finishes (think glossy “chocolate,” rainbow stripes, and speckled “sugar”), then seal everything with a clear glaze. Because clay needs drying time and multiple kiln firings, projects will be ready to take home at the end of the session. The class fee includes all materials, glazes, kiln firings, and additional studio supports. No previous experience is needed! Beginners will build foundational skills, while those with experience can refine and expand their artistic style with Ms. Priscilla's guidance. the perfect class for you!
