Camp Week 5

GRRRRL POWER! Music & Art Camp This week is the week of female empowerment! For 90 minutes a day, students learned and played female empowerment songs with Rock Hand Music. Then they made crystal balls and made drawings of a business they would want to own. Then campers designed and create custom bobble heads using model magic and wire to create springs. Campers were also challenged to create their very own mystery blind boxes. Each camper designed a character as well as branding for the packaging of the box with Alice. Here at Slowfire, we make sure that we extend our lunch time so students can eat lunch and be able to play outside at Slowfire Grove. Once done with projects, students were able to get face paint, make buttons, draw and so much more. Big thanks to our team: Alice, Metzli and Shane for a great week! Is it Cake? Art Edition! & Afternoon Enrichment Camps You’ve heard of is it cake with cake, but now its with art! Mornings started off with excellent drumming lessons from Rock Hands Music, starting the day with a bang. Students made dessert themed clay trinket jars, handsewn pop tart felt plushies, paper plate paper mache donuts with bead sprinkles, polymer clay treat magnets, homemade slime, cupcake value paintings with acrylic paint sticks, treat stand popsicle stick picture frames. Students were able to get fresh air at a field trip to Austin Gardens. Huge thanks to our team Salma, Maisie, Priscilla, Emily, Shane and Jake for an amazing week at camp.

Give it a Spin!: Wheel Camp At our beginner wheel camp, students were able to learn the foundational parts of wheel throwing from our knowledgeable instructors. They practiced make small plates, cups and bowls. Students were able to also practice decorating by using underglaze and glaze. Our instructors: Noelle, Tyler, Jeny and Fernanda were there to help students each step of the way.

If your camper made ceramics, please keep a eye out as we will be reaching out soon if we have not already.
