Service Description
Slowfire at Beye is an after school art education program offering enrichment in the following mediums: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics. Our dedicated staff and low student:teacher ratio allows us to cultivate community, create personal connections, and teach art FUNdamentals. Slowfire at Beye meets daily in the Beye TEAM room on the days school is in session: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3–6 pm & Wednesday from 2:30–6 pm. Daily Schedule: snack, free play (outside if weather permitting), and a 75-90 min art lesson followed with free choice. We are an electronic free space, (unless used for art resource or reference).. LOCATION: Beye Elementary School -230 N Cuyler Ave,TEAM room REGISTRATION: Students may enroll on the days which work best, but need to select a minimum of two days. We do multi-day art projects and prefer to have continuity over the week. Student continuity also builds community. Families with multiple children will receive 5% off one child. Families who elect to do 5 days per week will receive 5% off their monthly bill. PROGRAM FEE: $34.00 per day; includes all staff, art education materials, lessons, and outside labor (firing ceramics, for example). Price is $40/day if only registered for one day a week. BILLING: Families will be directly charged on the 15th of each month. There will be an initial deposit of $100 to secure your spot. CANCELLATION: Please give us 30 days notice if you need to cancel programming for your child. STAFF: Slowfire provides a 6/7 student: teacher ratio. We will enroll a maximum of 10-13 students/day. PICK UP: Suggested pick up time is after 5:00 to allow your child to complete their art lesson. Late Pick Up: Families will be billed a $20 late fee if the student is picked up after 6:10. Field Trips: On days we have access to our 10 person passenger van, we will take various field trips around Oak Park to explore art making outside, as well providing fresh air and movement. Beye students will have priority registration for D97 day off programming, held offsite at Slowfire in Oak Park. Registration will be separate. Expectations: We expect our students to follow our community rules and code of conduct. If a child cannot follow these rules, we reserve the right to ask a student to leave our program.
