Analog Adventure: Black & White Photography Camp with Prof. Steven Step away from the screen and into the magic of film! Join us for a weeklong deep dive into the world of black and white photography—led by the amazing Prof. Steven, a passionate photographer and educator. Steven is one of the photography professors at Dominican University and he led the photography department at Crate and Barrel for 30 years! In this immersive camp for teens ages 13–17, you'll learn how to shoot with a real 35mm film camera, capturing moments and stories out in the world. Campers will explore cool locations around town—traveling by train or van with your fellow photo crew and Prof. Steven at the wheel. You’ll get hands-on in the darkroom, where you’ll: Develop your own rolls of film using traditional chemistry Print your photos using enlargers and photo paper Practice techniques like dodging, burning, and contrast control Learn how to read a negative and make creative decisions in the printing process Gain a deeper understanding of exposure, composition, and storytelling in photography With a small group and lots of personal attention, this camp is perfect for beginners and curious creatives alike. You’ll leave with a solid foundation in analog photography—and your very own handcrafted prints to prove it. 📷 Film is not dead. It’s just getting started—with you. Cameras are available to borrow for the week of the camp. Campers will meet and be picked up at Slowfire, 907 S Lombard Avenue, Oak Park, IL Why Choose Slowfire Camp? Tech-Free Zone: Please refrain from bringing handheld gaming devices. Cell phones and Apple Watches should remain tucked in backpacks during camp hours. Cancellation Policy: 18 days or fewer before the camp start date: No refunds will be issued. More than 18 days before the camp start date: A $100 administrative deposit (or $100 of the full payment) is non-refundable, but any additional payments will be refunded.
